A smoother surface. A softer finish.
Professional dermaplaning at Soprano in Edinburgh gently removes surface dead skin and fine facial hair. Choose a focused treatment or explore the Dermaplaning Fusion Facial for an added emphasis on hydration.

Understand the approach
Dermaplaning uses a sterile blade, handled by a trained practitioner, to exfoliate the skin’s surface and remove fine vellus hair, often called peach fuzz. Skin can feel smoother and makeup may sit more evenly afterwards.
It is a surface treatment. It does not permanently remove hair, lift deeper tissue or replace an assessment for acne, pigmentation or scarring. We consider the condition of your skin before recommending it.

Practical information about dermaplaning, preparation and the care that follows. Your practitioner will tailor advice to you at your appointment.
No. Dermaplaning cuts fine hair at the surface and does not change the follicle that determines its colour or thickness. As the hair grows back it may feel different at first, but treatment does not turn peach fuzz into coarse hair.
Dermaplaning uses a blade and also removes fine facial hair. Microdermabrasion uses a diamond-tipped device and suction to exfoliate the surface. Both focus on superficial texture, but the right choice depends on your skin and whether hair removal is part of your goal.
We do not simply pass the blade over inflamed breakouts. Active acne, infection or broken skin may mean delaying treatment or choosing another approach. Tell us what your skin is doing now, as well as any previous diagnosis.
Suitability is individual. If your skin is sore, reactive or in a flare, exfoliation can make it less comfortable. A consultation allows us to assess whether dermaplaning, a gentler facial or a pause in treatment is the better choice.
Most people describe a light scraping sensation. Your practitioner works carefully and you should mention any discomfort as it happens. Although there is usually little disruption afterwards, irritation or small cuts can occur.
The focused treatment usually takes around 30–45 minutes. Fusion appointments include additional facial steps, so check the duration displayed for your selected service when booking.
Frequency depends on your skin, regrowth and other treatments. The effect is temporary and fine hair naturally returns. We can discuss maintenance at your appointment without committing you to a fixed monthly schedule.
The Fusion option combines dermaplaning with Oxygen Fusion and Intraceuticals skin care. It offers additional facial and hydration steps; your practitioner can explain the sequence and choose products suited to your skin.
Allow time for your skin to settle, especially if this is your first treatment. Avoid trying a new exfoliating procedure immediately before an important occasion. Tell us your event date so we can help plan a suitable appointment.
Tell us about retinoids, exfoliating products, recent peels, laser and any skin medicines. Follow the clinic’s advice on pauses and restarting products rather than changing prescribed care yourself. Use the recommended sun protection and avoid additional exfoliation while the skin settles.
