A fresh approach to surface texture.
Diamond-tip microdermabrasion at our Edinburgh clinic focuses on dullness and uneven surface texture. Explore a facial treatment, a back or chest appointment, or the Microdermabrasion Fusion Facial.

Understand the approach
Microdermabrasion combines a diamond-tipped handpiece with controlled suction to remove superficial dead skin cells. It can leave the surface feeling smoother and looking fresher, with intensity adapted to your skin.
It is a superficial treatment, rather than deep resurfacing. Pronounced scars, persistent redness or inflamed acne may need a different plan. We assess your skin before recommending a single visit or a course.

Practical information about microdermabrasion, preparation and the care that follows. Your practitioner will tailor advice to you at your appointment.
It exfoliates the outer surface of the skin using a diamond-tipped handpiece and suction. This can help superficial dullness and roughness. It does not remove deep scars or permanently change the size of your pores.
No. Microdermabrasion is a superficial exfoliating treatment. Dermabrasion is a deeper procedure with different risks and recovery. The similar names should not be taken to mean they produce the same result.
A practitioner can assess congestion and superficial unevenness, but inflamed acne or infection may make microdermabrasion unsuitable. Established acne scars can require a different approach, such as a discussion about microneedling, rather than repeated surface exfoliation.
Not always. Fragile, inflamed or highly reactive skin may need a gentler approach or no exfoliation while it settles. Tell us about rosacea, eczema, broken capillaries and previous reactions so we can assess suitability.
You may feel a scratching sensation and suction as the device moves. Tell your practitioner if this is uncomfortable. The aim is controlled exfoliation, and stronger treatment is not automatically better.
Temporary pinkness or sensitivity can occur, often settling over the next day or so, although responses vary. Leave extra time if you are planning an event. Your practitioner will explain the response expected for the intensity used.
A course may be useful for some goals, but six sessions is not a universal requirement. We review your concern, response and other skin care before recommending the number and spacing of appointments.
It combines microdermabrasion with our Oxygen Fusion approach and Intraceuticals skin care. This adds hydration-focused facial steps to surface exfoliation. Ask which combination best suits your skin before choosing a service.
Yes, Soprano has a separate Microdermabrasion (Back or Chest) booking option. Suitability depends on the concern and the condition of the skin; active inflammation or infection should be assessed first.
Follow your practitioner’s advice on gentle cleansing, moisturising and sun protection. Avoid extra scrubs, peeling products and overlapping exfoliating treatments while the skin is sensitive. Tell us about upcoming laser, peels or microneedling so we can advise on spacing.
