Subtle definition. Carefully considered.
Explore brow, eyeliner and lip-blush treatments at Soprano in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh. Shape, colour and the way pigment heals are discussed together, with a consultation before making a lasting decision.

Understand the approach
Semi-permanent makeup, also called micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing, places pigment within the skin to define features. The technique and colour are chosen around your skin, existing features and the finish you prefer.
Although the colour changes and may fade over time, some pigment can remain for many years. “Semi-permanent” should not be understood as a guarantee that it will disappear completely. Consultation, design and realistic expectations are essential.
The details that matter
Hairstroke, ombré and reconstruction options are available. Combination styles can be discussed according to your skin and remaining growth.
Define the upper or lower lash line, or both. We discuss the shape and intensity, including any softer shaded finish that may be appropriate.
Lip blush introduces colour and definition. Pigment changes colour and contour appearance; it does not add the physical volume of a filler treatment.

Practical information about semi-permanent makeup, preparation and the care that follows. Your practitioner will tailor advice to you at your appointment.
Yes. It is cosmetic tattooing using pigment placed into the skin. The term semi-permanent describes the way colour can soften or change, but pigment may remain long term and removal can be difficult. It is worth taking time over the decision.
We discuss your preferences, skin tone, natural features and any existing pigment. A proposed design is agreed before treatment. Bring examples of the style you like, while keeping in mind that a result must suit your skin and facial features.
Our menu includes hairstrokes, ombré brows and eyebrow reconstruction. Combination techniques can also be discussed. We will explain which approach is appropriate for your skin and remaining hair rather than assuming one technique suits everyone.
Brow reconstruction may create the appearance of definition where natural hair is limited. If hair loss relates to alopecia, illness or cancer treatment, tell us during consultation so that suitability and timing can be considered with any relevant medical advice.
It adds colour and can improve the appearance of the lip border within a suitable design. It does not add tissue volume. If your main concern is volume, that is a different conversation and should not be confused with the effect of pigment.
Sensation varies by area and person. We discuss comfort measures, including any suitable topical anaesthetic, before starting. Some discomfort can still occur, and you can ask for a pause during the appointment.
Allow around two to three hours for treatment, depending on the area and design. Colour may initially look darker and the skin can feel tender, swollen or flaky. Follow your aftercare and allow the colour to settle before judging the finished appearance.
A review may be needed after healing, and some people choose a colour refresh as pigment changes. Your plan depends on the original treatment, skin and remaining pigment. Ask what is included in the initial fee and which follow-up or refresh appointments are charged separately.
Sometimes, but existing colour, depth, shape and scarring need assessment first. Send or bring the information requested for consultation. We may recommend a different plan or advise against adding more pigment rather than promise a straightforward cover-up.
Tell us about allergies, blood-thinning medicines, healing problems, pregnancy, skin conditions, previous tattoo reactions and any history of cold sores, especially before lip treatment. Do not change medicines yourself; we will explain when medical advice or a delay may be needed.
Allow sufficient time for healing and any planned review. Sun exposure, swimming and picking at healing skin can affect recovery and colour. Tell us your dates at consultation so that your treatment is planned around the healing process.
